Flight attendants who saved the life of an infant on board an airplane will be presented for awards

On 28 August, during the landing of flight SU 1118 Moscow – Sochi, an infant aged 13 days, who was on board with his parents, suddenly stopped breathing. In the absence of doctors among the passengers, the flight attendants started first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation of the child. Thanks to their skilful and timely actions, the infant breathed on his own, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation said.

During the aircraft’s descent, the aircraft commander informed ground services about the incident on board. Immediately after landing and opening the door, emergency doctors examined the infant and hospitalised him. According to information from the city clinical hospital, the baby’s life is not in danger now.

Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev instructed to present the flight attendants of the Aeroflot flight to departmental awards.

“The crew of the aircraft showed courage in the performance of their duty. Their immediate reaction, as well as the application in practice of knowledge and skills received during professional training allowed to avoid a tragedy. Flight attendants will be honoured with departmental awards,” said Vitaly Savelyev.

Flight attendants Lyudmila Lelyuk Anastasia Kalitenko, Anna Leskova, Olga Saplina and Marina Frolova, as well as Aeroflot Aviation School teacher Alexander Protopopov, who participated in the professional training of flight attendants, will be honoured.
